TO ALL PARENTS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF NORWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENT ATHLETES:

The Norwood Athletic Boosters would like to invite you to become a member of our organization. The Norwood Athletic Boosters provide uniforms for the student athletes for every sport in the Norwood Middle School and Norwood High School. In addition to uniforms, we provide funding for a male and female scholarship, as well as athletic equipment. The Norwood Athletic Boosters is a non-profit organization that supplements our athletic programs with items the school district cannot provide.

Funding is also provided for the English Department’s annual “Gifted Writer Banquet” that occurs in May. As each athlete is a student first, it is important to reinforce this belief. The donation to the English Department is to show them appreciation for their assistance with concessions for our Middle School Winter athletic events.

Our meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the Mound Café at 7:00 PM. If you are unable to attend the meetings, please feel free to contact the members listed below. There are always opportunities for you to volunteer your time and expertise. Currently, we have members working on dance committees, website design and concessions.

We have reduced our fund raising activities down to just a few each year, with our biggest being our concession stands. Please feel free to volunteer your service for a night or two during any of our fall or winter seasons. In August, we have our big Membership Drive, where our fall athletes canvas the city selling booster memberships. If you have not been approached and would like a membership, please see our staff at the concession stand. The will be glad to provide you with an application. Memberships start at $10.00.

The Norwood Athletic Boosters have recently started two new traditions. A fall “Halloween Dance” and a “Mardi Gras Dance” have become a big hit. Come dance, mingle and have a good time.

 

Remember – We cannot do this without you. We are working to support your student athlete. Volunteer to work concessions during a JV event and then watch your Varsity athlete, or vice versa. A little time goes a long way.

Q & A

How do I become a member?
Boosters Memberships start at $10.00 and applications are available at any concession stand. Membership levels of $25.00 or more allow you designate some of the proceeds to your student athlete’s team to buy equipment etc for that team.

How much are your scholarships?
Currently, they are $750 for each male and female scholarship. As our revenues grow, we hope to be able to increase these amounts.

How much do you donate to the English Department’s Banquet?
We donate $1000 to the English Department, in past years; the English Department opened the stadium concession stand for us during soccer season. Last year we chose to explore more opportunities for concessions and began opening a concession stand at Middle School events. The English Department runs this and it has been a big success.
